D-Naff


Naftalie Shigwedha Amukwelele (born 1 January 1974) commonly known as D-Naff, is a Namibian award-winning rapper/singer, and a former street gangster. D-Naff sings inspirational religious music in the style of kwaitohip hopkizombadancehall and afro-pop. D-Naff is also a motivational and inspirational speaker and has visited more than 15 schools in Namibia including the University of Namibia, Windhoek College of Education, Ongwediva College of Education and the Polytechnic of Namibia.

Music
He started his music career back in the early 90s while a student at "Jan Jonker Afrikaner Secondary" under a group called the "Glamour Boys". The group toured France in 1998, during the soccer world cup under the sponsorship of the Franco-Namibian Cultural Center. After a giving his heart to Jesus, D-Naff went on to establish a GOspel hip-hop group called Eagles in Flight which later became Heaven's Dialect. After the exodus of the Group's producer to U.S.A., the group disbanded and D-Naff went on to found a group called "Eagle's Mentality" which became the winner of the 2005 "Best Gospel" at the Sanlam-NBC Music Awards.
D-Naff has been appointed as the (goodwill) Ambassador for the National Youth Council of Namibia (NYC). His duties as Ambassador include addressing the youth countrywide on matters facing them, being the spokesperson for them, motivating and inspiring them to be the best they can be and to live a life of meaning. D-Naff is also a member of a Choral group called Cantare Audire, under the leadership of Mr. Ernst von Biljon at the college of the Arts. Through his career as a musician, he has toured the United States and Europe.
He released his first solo album entitled Oshagwana in 2006 which made him more popular. In 2007 he released his second album entitled Iikele Yuuyuni Mbu which won him an award at the Namibian Music Awards in the gospel category with his song, "Tsipi Tsipi". His third album Above The Limit was released in early 2008. He is currently the best selling Gospel artist in Namibia, and the country's top and most requested performing Gospel star. His music enjoys airplay in all radio stations across the country as well as Radio Phoenix in Zambia.

PDK is made up of Patrick Mwashindange, Dion Auala and Kristian Andreas. they first started off as dancers and were known as the Action Boys to Action Geez. While in high school they would perform at beauty pageants and talent shows and became popular for their vibrant dancing moves. The trios who have been making music for 8 years, hails from the northern Namibian town Oshakati. Patrick is the singing sensation in the group, Dion has a unique style that cannot be compared to anyone and Kamtonyo is a combination of the two. The trio have a very strong stage presence with performances that are vibrant, explosive and unifies the audience. The group takes inspiration for their music from reality. “We sing more about reality then superstitions, more of dreams and goals that we are trying to achieve, we sing more of what is happening and love.”

PDK are loved for their unique sounds, their style fusses a mix of afropop and dancehall. The trio has been active in the Namibian entertainment scene and have collaborated with some of the country’s biggest names in music these include kwaito star and Channel O award winner The Dog, kwaito star Ees and one of Namibia’s highest selling artist Tatebuti, as well as a hand full of local Namibian artist. They have also worked with Zambian artist Shyman.PDK has released a total of eight albums skoko, Paantu, Emanya, Kombingaaku, Odjuulufi, Moko, Fiyotakushi and Kulupa Nayo.

Gazza

Lazaruz Karandu Shiimi (born 10 March 1977) known by his stage name as Gazza, is a Namibian kwaitomusician from Oshakati. As a soccer lover, he nicknamed himself Gazza after famous English soccer player Paul Gascoigne. He is one of the most commercially successful recording artists in Namibia. Gazza is one of the best selling musicians in his country.
Gazza established his self-named music company Gazza Music Productions in 2003, which gained popularity in 2004. Gazza has worked with popular Namibian and South African musicians and producers including The Dogg, Elvo, DJ Cleo, Sunny BoyBrown DashMandozaEes, and Zola to name a few.

Early life[edit]

Karandu was born and raised in Othika a small town near Oshakati. He attended "Etosha High School" inTsumeb, where his interest in music was exemplified through his involvement in several choirs and his fascination with kwaito. After completing his high school he went to study marketing in Cape TownSouth Africa where he developed love for kwaito music.

Music career[edit]

After returning from studies in South Africa, Gazza decided to do music in his home country Namibia. As an upcoming musician, Gazza would experiment with a variety of music genres. In 2003 he met producer Elvo and a young upcoming artist The Dogg. The later formed a professional duo with Gazza out of mutual respect and recorded their first hit "Ghetto Life" with the help of Elvo. That song would later steer the relationship between the two. Gazza released another hit song titled "Tanauka". He again teamed up with The Dogg for his other two hit songs "M'china".

The Dogg


Martin Morocky (born 31 March 1983), known by his stage name as The Dogg, is a Namibian multi-award winning musician. He is one of the most outstanding artists in Namibia and is considered one of the pioneers ofNamibia's kwaito genre. His debut album Shimaliw' Osatana, released in 2004, was Namibia's first full-length kwaito album. It was critically acclaimed and went on to be widely hailed as a classic in the Namibian kwaito genre.
The Dogg was part of the group Omalaeti O'Swapo, which released one album in 2004. His music is enjoyed internationally, in countries such as South Africa, BotswanaAngolaZambia and Zimbabwe. The Dogg has performed in France, England and Canada. He is a common household name on Africa's number one music channel, Channel O, where he earned two awards and three nominations. He is the highest awarded artist in his country.
Morocky is the owner of Mshasho Productions record label, and Mshasho Clothing. He is one of the highest selling musicians in Namibia.

Early life[edit]

Morocky began his formal education at Onayena Primary School situated in Onayena, a village in eastOndangwa, where he has been living since returning from exile in Zambia, in 1989. Morocky is the youngest child of four siblings. His aspiration as a child was to become a mechanical engineer while music remained a dormant passion. In 1997, he moved to Windhoek City to attend his secondary education at Augustineum Secondary School in Khomasdal. After graduating from high school, Morocky chose to study for a Science degree at theUniversity of Namibia. He left the university after one academic year to pursue a career in music.
