The Namibian Annual Music Awards exist to recognize accomplishment in the Namibian recording industry by celebrating those groups and individuals who have excelled in the past year.

Lady May
Martha Namundjebo, came to fame in 2004 with the release of her first album Kamali which won her first award at the Sanlam-NBC Music Awards. Namundjebo is one of the most popular female singers in Namibia. Her music is also recognized beyond the Namibian border and she has been nominated and won several awards at the Channel O Music Video Awards.
Lady May's music is a mixture of Oshiwambo traditional music and western pop. Most of her music is categorized under the Afro pop and house genre. Her early styles were a combination of R&B and hip hop. She is signed to a South African record label, Big Ear Records. Lady May was Namibia's celebrity housemate for the seventh season of Big Brother Africa, where she came out as runner-up. Lady May started to sing from the age of six, during her teenage years she started performing at school concerts. She recorded her first song "Lady for Life" with the help of producer Kanibal in 2004 which won her an award for Best Female Artist at the 2004 Sanlam-NBC Music Awards. In 2005 Martha released her debut album titled Kamali which means little Martha in her native language Oshiwambo.
Her second album Come And Get Me was released in 2006, it was a change in style as she was moving into the afro pop genre. The album included 3 hit songs "Come and Get Me", "Bubblgum" and the popular "Chokola" whose video received a lot of play on Channel O and MTVBase Africa. The video was shot in Namibia in two locations by Tim Huebschle as part of an MTVBase Africa initiative. The video also charted on the channel and won the award for Best Dance Video at the 2008 Channel O Music Video Awards.
In 2008 Martha performed at the Big Brother Africa 3 eviction show in Johannesburg, South Africa. In 2009 Lady May teamed up with DJ Kboz's label Turntable King Productions and music management company Great Wings Promotions to produce and release her third album, Pink Chocolate.

Better known as Tequila (often stylized as TeQuila)
is a Namibian singer Tekla is one of Namibia's most gifted vocalists. Tekla
started her career as a featuring artist in, first appearing on Sunny Boy's
sophomore breakthrough hit single "Serious", for his debut album Young,
Black en Gifted. Her appearance on the song brought her more attention, as
she began getting popular. She appeared on two more songs from Young, Black
en Gifted. Later that year, with the help from producer, Stalin Kapembe,
she started recording her own songs. Her first single was "Who's Gonna
Love You", which was released only for radio promotion. In 2006, she won
the Legal Shield Winna Mariba Song writing competition. In 2008, she acted in
Vixen Hangula film titled Between Friends, which encourages condom use and
encourages women to stand together. In 2009, Tekla took the industry by storm
in both Namibia and South Africa when she lend her vocals on South African DJ
Bojo Mojo hit song "Tando Lwam", for his album Session 6. In,
2012 she was nominated in 6 categories at for the Namibian Annual Music Awards
of which she won 5, including "Best Female Artist of the Year"

Naftalie Shigwedha Amukwelele (born 1 January 1974) commonly known as D-Naff, is a Namibian award-winning rapper/singer, and a former street gangster. D-Naff sings inspirational religious music in the style of kwaito, hip hop, kizomba, dancehall and afro-pop. D-Naff is also a motivational and inspirational speaker and has visited more than 15 schools in Namibia including the University of Namibia, Windhoek College of Education, Ongwediva College of Education and the Polytechnic of Namibia.
Music
He started his music career back in the early 90s while a student at "Jan Jonker Afrikaner Secondary" under a group called the "Glamour Boys". The group toured France in 1998, during the soccer world cup under the sponsorship of the Franco-Namibian Cultural Center. After a giving his heart to Jesus, D-Naff went on to establish a GOspel hip-hop group called Eagles in Flight which later became Heaven's Dialect. After the exodus of the Group's producer to U.S.A., the group disbanded and D-Naff went on to found a group called "Eagle's Mentality" which became the winner of the 2005 "Best Gospel" at the Sanlam-NBC Music Awards.
D-Naff has been appointed as the (goodwill) Ambassador for the National Youth Council of Namibia (NYC). His duties as Ambassador include addressing the youth countrywide on matters facing them, being the spokesperson for them, motivating and inspiring them to be the best they can be and to live a life of meaning. D-Naff is also a member of a Choral group called Cantare Audire, under the leadership of Mr. Ernst von Biljon at the college of the Arts. Through his career as a musician, he has toured the United States and Europe.
He released his first solo album entitled Oshagwana in 2006 which made him more popular. In 2007 he released his second album entitled Iikele Yuuyuni Mbu which won him an award at the Namibian Music Awards in the gospel category with his song, "Tsipi Tsipi". His third album Above The Limit was released in early 2008. He is currently the best selling Gospel artist in Namibia, and the country's top and most requested performing Gospel star. His music enjoys airplay in all radio stations across the country as well as Radio Phoenix in Zambia.
